Nothing shows on the public pages #
Tick Public on the Study screen and save, then publish the draft pages. Records inside the living-person window, records linked to a living or unfindable person, and undated records with no person link are hidden by design - see "Living-Person Privacy". If page links 404, go to Settings → Permalinks and click Save Changes.
My import came in undated #
The file had no date column, or it was not matched. For a single-date source such as a census, set Date all rows as before importing. Undo the record set, fix the matching or the date, and import again.
Dates look wrong after an Excel export #
Excel sometimes exports dates as bare numbers. Tick Excel date numbers in the matching step and they are read as dates.
Two places have the same name #
That is allowed: places are nodes in a hierarchy, so a High Street in one hamlet and another in the next are separate places under separate parents.
Can I run more than one study? #
One place study per WordPress site, in every edition. Use another site or a multisite subsite for another place.
Will it change my data? #
Never. Names, dates and places are stored exactly as recorded; standardised values are kept separately and stay correctable. Importing never merges or overwrites.
Where do I get support? #
Free users: the support forum on WordPress.org. Pro licence holders: the AncestorPress support desk. Ideas and requests: the plugin's Future Direction page.
