A study should outlive its author, and it only can if the data is truly yours. Everything on the Export screen is free and always will be.

The downloads #

• All records (CSV) - every field of every record, including the as-recorded originals and the standardised values with their precision indicators.
• One CSV per record type - the same records split by type.
• Place hierarchy (CSV) - every place with its type, parent, county code, coordinates and notes: the gazetteer as data.
• Reconstructed people (GEDCOM) - people linked from the study's records, for any standard genealogy program.
• Study archive (ZIP) - the whole study as documented JSON plus flat CSVs (records, places, record sets, judgements) and a plain-English README, built for preservation and handover. A small manifest file describes the archive without the record data.

What the plugin stores, and where #

All study data lives in your own WordPress database. The plugin does not collect or transmit any of it to us. If you configure a map embed, visitors' browsers load the map from the provider you chose; the optional contact form emails the study contact address and nowhere else.

Uninstalling #

Deactivating keeps everything. Uninstalling removes the plugin's options and scheduled tasks; the study registry table is dropped only if you ticked Delete data on uninstall on the Study screen. The shared core tables used by the other AncestorPress plugins are never dropped by this plugin.

Staged import files #

Uploaded CSVs are staged in a protected folder while an import runs and removed when it completes. An import abandoned part-way (a closed browser) is cleared automatically after two days.
