AP One-Name Studies shipped early and lean, on purpose – a real, publishable study tool put into the hands of the people who know the discipline best. We are now in post-launch evaluation: researching what one-name studies genuinely need, and where the gaps are. Early on, your input should shape the direction more than our guesses do. This page is where you tell us.
Suggest a feature, or tell us what we’ve missed
One-name study is a deep field with its own conventions. If we have missed something that matters to your study – a Guild practice, a niche of the work, a feature you cannot do without – we would genuinely rather hear it than not. Every suggestion from a working one-namer is read and weighed.
Where we’re looking
We are not publishing a fixed roadmap yet – at this stage your input should steer it. But the broad areas we are evaluating are:
- Richer distribution analysis and mapping – the geographic story of a name, in more depth and over time.
- Publishing to community standard – study output in the format the discipline expects.
- Deeper reconstitution – assembling occurrences into families, then out to a tree.
- Backing a study with record collections – growing a name index into a sourced archive.
- Society-facing features – supporting groups and their members’ registered interests.
What gets built first depends on what you tell us above.
