The free plugin is the complete home of a one-place study. Pro adds the analytical and organisational layer. There are no usage caps in either edition, and every edition manages one study per site.

What Pro adds #

• Study roles - Study Owner, Editor, Contributor and Viewer as WordPress roles. Contributors submit records into a review queue; an editor or owner accepts or rejects each one before it enters the study.
• The Study Report - a print-styled report of the study (statistics, record types, places, surnames) with a Print / Save as PDF action.
• Archive restore - restore a study archive ZIP made by the free Export screen into a fresh site. Restore refuses rather than guesses: an archive that is incomplete, damaged or made by a newer data schema is rejected before anything is written, and a restore that cannot save every row stops with a choice to retry, keep or roll back.
• AI import assists - paste a table, transcribe a page image, or have the column matching suggested, using the AI provider you have configured in WordPress. Every proposal is reviewed before it becomes a record; only the material you submit is sent, and only to your own provider account.
• Research tools - a cautious suggestion engine that proposes links between records and people with a judgement queue (confirmed by a record, wrong place, dates incompatible, and so on); a link audit; targeted search with standing interests; and a judgement log that travels in your archive export.

How Pro is supplied #

Pro is licensed per site, annually or for life, from ancestorpress.com. It is a separate build installed in place of the free plugin; settings and all study data are kept. The Pro code is not part of the free plugin and the free plugin never downloads it.
