Nothing is shown to visitors until the study is marked Public on the Study screen. The public views are ordinary WordPress pages carrying shortcodes, so they can be retitled, restyled and rearranged like any other page.

The generated pages #

The Study screen creates these as drafts: the study profile (scope, timeframe, description and the record inventory), the occurrence index, Records by type, Surnames, Places, Households and Contact the study. Publish the ones you want.

The shortcodes #

• [apopst_study] - the study profile with the auto-generated record inventory.
• [apopst_occurrences] - the searchable, paginated occurrence index: filter by name, record type, year range and place.
• [apopst_record_types index_url="..."] - each record type with its record sets and a count, linking into the index.
• [apopst_surnames index_url="..."] - the surname index with spelling groups.
• [apopst_places] - the place hierarchy; each place opens its own page. [apopst_place id="N"] embeds one place's page anywhere.
• [apopst_household] - census record sets, households and members; set and ref attributes pin one household.
• [apopst_map] - an embedded map of the studied place from OpenStreetMap, uMap, Google My Maps or the National Library of Scotland historic mapping, once you have configured one.
• [apopst_contact] - a contact form that emails the study contact address without revealing it. It renders only when a contact address is set on the Study screen, and carries anti-spam checks and a per-visitor rate limit.

Every public page is privacy-filtered #

Counts, listings, the surname index and the household views all draw from the same privacy-filtered population - see "Living-Person Privacy". The pages cannot disagree about who is shown.
