The free edition is the whole workbench: capture, import, artefacts, questions, the log, tasks, promotion and export, uncapped. Pro adds assistance on top - the AI help, duplicate detection, smart search and the advanced views.

AI assistance #

• Transcription - a first draft of a document's text, marked unverified until you confirm or correct it. It never replaces text you wrote.
• Entity extraction - names, dates and places found in a transcription, offered as suggested links for you to confirm. Nothing is linked without your say-so.
• Question analysis - what the evidence supports, what is missing, and which source to try next.
• Classification - a suggested artefact type and tags.

What the AI runs on #

AI features use the WordPress core AI Client and the provider you configure there. There are no credits to buy, no per-use pricing and no proxy in the middle. With no provider configured, the AI features are simply absent and everything else works as normal.

The living-person protection #

Before anything is sent for an AI operation, the plugin checks whether a living person is involved, and it fails closed: if a linked person is missing from the tree, or the records cannot be read, the artefact is treated as living and nothing is sent. Consent is asked per operation, and every AI operation is written to the research log with the model used.

Duplicates, search and views #

• Duplicate detection - a local scan, with an optional AI confirmation, and a merge that unions the files and tags onto the artefact you keep. A retired duplicate disappears from the listings, and the survivor cannot be discarded by accident.
• Smart search - natural-language search across your research.
• Brick walls and Timeline - board and chronological views of the stuck questions and the work.
• Dossier - a print-styled page for a question, ready to save as a PDF from your browser.
