AncestorPress plugin licences are managed through Freemius, a third-party licence and billing platform. Your licence key, subscription status, site activations, and invoices are all accessible through your Freemius account.
Finding your licence key #
Your licence key was included in the purchase confirmation email sent by Freemius when you bought your plan. Search your inbox for an email from AncestorPress or Freemius.
If you cannot find the email, log in at ancestorpress.com/account to view and copy your licence key.
Activating your licence #
- Go to AncestorPress → Account in your WordPress admin
- Enter your licence key in the field provided
- Click Activate Licence

On successful activation the screen shows your plan name, the licence expiry date, and the number of site activations used and available.
Moving a licence to a different site #
If you need to move your licence from one WordPress site to another:
- On the old site, go to AncestorPress → Account and click Deactivate Licence. This frees the activation slot.
- On the new site, go to AncestorPress → Account, enter the same licence key, and click Activate Licence.
Personal plan licences cover one site. If you need to run AncestorPress on more than one site simultaneously, upgrade to Pro (unlimited sites).
Checking how many activations you have used #
Go to AncestorPress → Account. The account screen shows the number of active site activations against the total allowed by your plan. You can also see and manage activations by logging in at ancestorpress.com/account.
Recovering a lost licence key #
- Go to ancestorpress.com/account
- Enter the email address used when you purchased
- A login link is sent to that email address
- After logging in your licence key is displayed on the account page
If you no longer have access to the purchase email address, contact support with your order details.
Licence not activating #
If the licence key is rejected or activation fails:
- Check there are no extra spaces before or after the key when pasting
- Confirm the key has not already been used on the maximum number of sites for your plan
- Confirm your licence has not expired — log in at ancestorpress.com/account to check the expiry date
- If the issue persists, contact support
